Day 5 24/3/2019 Day 5 Lake Entrance to Bermagui

Day 5
Participants were under strict instructions to be ready to be on the road by 8.30 am as we had a long drive today.  Everyone was up bright and early, had breakfast and were on the road by just before 8.30am.

As we were now back amongst the modern’s we let everyone go ahead and followed along as "tail end Charlie". The route included a visit to the Historic Bridge at Nowa Nowa, then the lookout over the Snowy River Flats then arrive at our morning tea stop at East Cape Conran.

Historic bridge at Nowa Nowa
What a delightful area although there were a number of others there but the weather was sunny and the water looked magic.  This was a spot we hadn’t been to before and a diversion suggested by Alan and Noeline. By this time we came across a small number of Alvii and took advantage of various photographic positions.

Moving off we then proceeded to Cann River to collect lunch at the local bakery and then further along the route to Genoa we stopped at a pretty little rest area and ate lunch in the company of Alan and Noeline. The Bellbirds were amazing here - even an American visitor had to ask what animal was making the incredible noise!

Again back on the road we continued through Eden and Merimbula to Bermagui where we will be for the next 2 nights.
Entering Eden - weather was lovely

Traffic is minimal as McKinnon 12/50 crosses single lane bridge outside Merimbula

The hills are getting steeper but the 12/50 seems to enjoy the challenge.
Just one more hill to climb...not sure Alan is enjoying this!
Entering Tathra
We organised pre dinner drinks on the court yard lawn and then headed for dinner across the road at Il Pasargio's.  A great day was had by all.  In general the cars behaved themselves and the only area of struggle was several steep climbs after Merimbula.  Weather was kind although it was quite humid especially as we hit the coast.  It threatened stormy rain but it never eventuated.
