Day 4
There was only one possible solution to yesterdays GREMLIN
attack. Maritta, after a number of phone calls, organised for the RACV to
collect the Eagle and take it home in disgrace (well..sort of). Bearing in mind that we have had a lot of
enjoyable miles in it including racing and hill climbs, things do happen when driving
a car which as almost 90 years old.
The Eagle leaves Lakes Entrance, not quite how we planned it. |
Today we would take a taxi to Bairnsdale, take a hire car to Avonsleigh pick up the modern and dash back to
Lakes Entrance in time for dinner. The about 500 km return travel which included delivering the hire car back to Bairnsdale on the way we made it in just over 6 hours we arrived back just in
time for Dinner at the Ferryman's Restaurant - a floating restaurant in the marina. It was a big day for us. The plan for the rest of the group was for a restful day exploring Lakes Entrance and surrounds. Some opted to catch up with their washing.
Anyway, as planned, the rest of the participants had a very
pleasant morning tea at Nerrimilang Homestead, apologies to Rex and Cousin Judy
who we had planned to catch up with but will have to leave that for next time.

After a length morning tea which included a variety of cakes and slices they then proceeded to Bruthen, via Mossiface, and back to
Lakes Entrance for an excellent dinner at the Ferryman's Café.
